UAE so far...

Hi,

How have you all been? How is Soccer and Outing?

Anyway, it has been really good here in UAE. I have already been to 3 out of the 7 Emirates. They are Sharjah (working here but nothing to do), Dubai (freaking everything is here. Shisha, Nightclubs, Alcohol whatever you want that is not Arabia is here. Haha) and Abu Dhabi (Just went for a convention there. Does not seem as developed.)

Basically, I am having fun here. Other than to be able to visit the above stated places, there are many more reasons, like…

1. Since I left Singapore, I have a stopover at Thailand, a stopover at Chennai and then reaching UAE. Only being here for 4 days, I have already visited 3 states.
2. Working here is good. All goes the ASIAN CULTURE. It’s a very friendly environment. Very open. Job has been good as well. I meant it’s different from what I did before and I enjoyed it. I even can state my views to certain extend.
3. As for the fun, they have SKI DUBAI. I’ll be going there someday. It is like half of Suntec. The whole mall is like a smaller genting. I will also be going for some desert trip soon before it gets too hot in june/july. It has camel riding, sand skiing and even that jeep thing where you drive around the desert.
4. Okay, this is something I guess almost everyone wants to here. Its like on MSN, what the clique ask me is, “how are the Kip Hui here?” Guys, for your info, I am working here and the ratio of girls is to guy is about 1 to 3. You don’t even get to see girls working around the street. And apparently, the arabs here only occupy 19% of the population. It’s like another multi-racial country here (Just maybe lesser Chinese.) However, the girls here if you get to see them, are very pretty. At least those in the companies are. I will also say most of them kept themselves in shape. BUT they are generally taller. Haha..

So far those are the nice stuff.

As for complains, there are definitely some.

1. Like it’s really hot. There is this day when it gets till 45 degree. Luckily, I am in perpetual aircon.
2. Public transport is bad. So its like taxi from place to place. And its expansive if you need to travel from Sharjah to Dubai. Its like 25 Sing for a trip.
3. And for all the fun things I said above, if you have no money don’t even come. The stuff here are expansive. The cheap stuff in Singapore is like expansive here. But HPs and Cars which are expansive in Singapore are cheap here. For food, an advice is bring more Maggie mee.
4. As for hotel, I have complimentary breakfast everyday but they don’t change menu. Furthermore, my hotel bathroom keep flooding when I bathe, the drainage sucks.
5. Almost all channels is in Arabic. And No wireless in hotel room.
6. As for movies it is like S$15 here. Pple here normally goes for pirated DVD. They go from house to house. Quite interesting and cost like 3 or 4 sing dollars.

buffet dinner update aka ABBD.2 (Amanda birthday buffet dinner. part 2)

I have been reprimanded by someone for not listing down accurately and extensively the dishes that can be found in the buffet so here i am again. The theme of the dinner, i have been convincingly told, is malaysian delights but not forgetting some other western dishes as well. For the asian side there will be stuff like bak kut teh and asam ayam horfun etc. There is also atas food like, i emphasise, 'fresh' oysters and 'fresh' sashimi to justify the price so those looking to level off, this is what u should be looking at. For desserts there are cakes, pastries, and stuff like bo bo cha cha ice kachang etc.. and also of course chocolate fondue. My strategy for chocolate lovers is to dip 'all' the food (sashimi, oysters, meat, fish) in the chocolate for the ultimate experience.

The venue is grand plaza park hotel at city hall, with the restaurant name of 'indulge at park'. Dont u just love the word indulge? orgigiginal price is 45 nett but cos of our lovely bday girl we get 30 percent discount so work your math here. And those goin soccer pls reply in tag board. Dont forget to read the earlier post about thailand trip.

buffet dinner and thai girl show whoohoo

boys, girls, ladies and gentlemen, in light of the up and coming bday of amanda and given the recent absence of our usual clique buffet dinner, we have decided to have a buffet dinner in celebration of amanda bday on tues 13 May. It should be around 31, 32 dollars nett and there will be a free cake (i hope oreo cheese cake) to relive the kangtao times of stuffing down cake into a bloated stomach. So pls do make time for the 'feast', do not miss a date with some tantalising food of malay origin, asam, ayam whatever and i think there is sashimi, imagine now the wonderful taste of sambal sashimi. Location is at yet a mystery with the answer known only to amanda but i have strong suspicions that it is somewhere in the town area. Currently confirmed participants are amanda, psycho, binghan, lulu, benny, teh and we need 8 to get the free 1 kg cake. Whoever can contact Mendi, pls do, if not can go thru his boss eliss. Tentative time should be ard 7pm.

The other highly anticipated event is the trip to thailand proudly suggested by Lulu in late july, definitely after the 2nd wk of July. Be prepared for the dazzling sights of exotic thailand, notably be alert to spot scenes of families on, in and under one single bike. And how can we forgo the amazing and hauntingly frightening spectacle of 'thai girl' show? One can never go to sleep in peace after witnessing the prowess of the 'vagina' or more commonly known in Singapore as 'chibai'. Opening bottle caps with the lips, stuffing razor blades straight in without a hint of blood, shooting ping pong balls, with speeds and ferocity besting even li jia wei, just by using the inner walls, are just slight previews of what is to come. To partake in this once and only experience, pls do make time and get ready at least 500 sing dollars. For more details of the trip, pls call lulu.
