First day of school

Just thought to share my experience of my first day in school. It was orientation so no lessons to be taught but i had an hour of class time with my small group of pri 5 12 students who i will be taking for maths in the future. I was totally unable to control them, they were rowdy and playful. When i reprimand them they will be nice and quiet but once i turn my back on them, chaos breaks loose again.

One lesson i had when i was in the 2 day preparation course was not to smile at the children but i just couldnt help myself, they were so cute...but i guess that marked my downfall, the children know i'm a goody person who they can walk all over of. Sigh...kids nowadays are so perceptive. Another thing was that i was quite dumbstruck when i was infront of the class. I totally didnt know what to say or do haha.

Then i had to relief a class of pri 2. That was worse, they were just running about and when i stood close and stared at the rebellion leader, he said i was smelly...Things would really be much simpler if i could just whack him on the head or something.

Well, i just hope that it wont be this bad everyday. And i guess i really need to wear a mask in class, no hint of a smile or mr goody.

Kids at this age can be quite cute at times. I went to a day care centre today at kovan to find out more about being a tutor there. Though mischevious, the kids there are damn cute and innocent!!

sounds very challenging and exciting .. glad to have a teacher friend..haha..look on the bright side man.. i feel that teaching pri sch is better than sec sch.. at least they still have the childhood innocence left in them..before the sinister side kicks in...let me know if it is fulfilling.. if it is, i may juz be a teacher too..haha..

Alonso, from experiences with habdling children and teenagers, there's good and bad side of every each of them. Yep, secondary school kids can be super hard to deal with. I instructed in various schools and the worst was New Town sec.. gosh, I had to put on my CSM persona and f%^k them like animals and only then they will listen. It's psychology.. have to understand every phase they go through. The best time I had was in a special school. My 2 years volunteering there was wonderful. The kids; some can be naughty, but they are obedient if you're either stern or kiss them. There's something about special people that makes them, er.. special! Even the adults and teenagers I took for hydrotheraphy class were great! I would want to sign on with them if the opportunity arise. Maybe you guys would want to look into these areas. They need male teachers especially for those with movement difficulties. The pay's much less but hey, the working hours great, the people and kids are great and the satisfaction of helping them out is the bonus. Though you sometimes wish some of them will die before their parents or there wouldn't be anyone to take care of them. That grim reality you have to live with..
